German and Bulgarian troops escorting Romanian grain at Veles
Here we see German and Bulgarian troops guarding a convoy of donkeys carrying looted Romanian grain, in the North Macedonian city of Veles (then part of Bulgaria). The Central Powers took a large amount of grain from the occupied parts of Romania after the disasterous Romanian entry into the First World War in 1916.
