Armenian Refugees at Hamadan, 1918
Here we see a group of mainly Armenian refugees being drilled by British instructors at Hamadan (ancient Ecbatana). The British were part of Dunsterforce, a small expedition which crossed northern Persia to try and support anti-Bolshevik and anti-Ottoman forces around Baku. Local support was key, but the expedition ended in failure.
