RAF Regiment Infantry waiting to attack El Daba
Here we see infantry from the RAF regiment waiting for the order to advance and capture El Daba airfield during the Allied pursuit after the victory at El Alamein. Although the RAF Regiment had been formed to protect RAF airbases, its roll soon expanded to include the capture and protection of enemy airfields during Allied offensives. In the case of El Daba this was an Allied airfield lost during the retreat from Gazala, and recaptured after El Alamein.
