Queen Elizabeth meets Generals de Gaulle and Catroux

Queen Elizabeth meets Generals de Gaulle and Catroux
Here we see Queen Elizabeth meeting the French leaders Generals De Gaulle and Catroux at a concert in aid of the French held at the Dorchester Hall on 10 November 1942. On the left with her back to the camera is the Marchioness of Crewe, a member of the Rothschild family and a great supporter of the Free French. After the war she was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour. General Catroux was the highest ranked French general to join the Free French, and was commander in the Middle East in 1941-42 and Algier in 1943-44. This picture was presumably taken between the two posts.
