General Sir Bernard Paget leaving ship during Scottish tour
Here we see General Sir Bernard Paget, Commander-in-Chief of Home Forces, leaving a supply ship during a three day inspection tour of Scotland, probably late in 1942. Paget held the post from Christmas Day 1941 until early in 1944, when he became C-in-C, Middle East Command (after the war had largely moved on from that area). He also commanded 21st Army Group as it was being formed, before handing it over to Montgomery.
