One-armed soldier using Sledgehammer
Here we see a one armed soldier using a special attachment on his artificial arm to help him swing a sledgehammer. This was part of a major effort to rehabilitiate the many thousands of men who had lost limbs during the First World War. This particular picture was taken at Charterhouse Military Hospital in London, which operated from 1918-19.
