Merchant Seaman return home after sinking, Operation Torch

Here we see a group of merchant seaman returning to the UK after their ship was torpedoed and sunk on its way back from Operation Torch. The only merchant ship recorded as being sunk on the return convoys was the Ettrick, sunk by U-155 on 15 November. Six of her crew and eighteen naval ratings were lost, while the master, 204 of her crew, 41 gunners and 66 naval ratings survived.
