Power Cart of Marconi 1.5kw Field Set radio
Here we see the Power Cart of a Marconi 1.5kw field set radio, used by the British army during the First World War to connect Corps HQ to the front line. The power cart contained a number of accumulators (early rechargable batteries). It could be recharged at a central charging centre or by mobile generators that would visit the radio's position. This set was normally the last link before the HQ, connecting out to less powerful transmitters nearer the front.
