Operating Cart of Marconi 1.5kw Field Set radio
Here we see the operating cart of a Marconi 1.5kw field set radio. This was used during the First World War to connect Corps headquarters to the front line, and was normally used as the final link in the communications chain. A second cart carried accumulators (a form of rechargable battery) that were used to power the equipment.
