General Macintyre inspects Essex Motor Volunteers
Here we see Major General Macintyre inspecting the Essex Motor Volunteers at a meeting at Felix Hall, Kelvedon, the home of their commander Major H. Wrightson. Major General Donald Charles Macintyre (1859-1938 ) had been promoted to Major General on 4 May 1914 when serving in India, then served with the staff from March 1916 to May 1917, before moving to the War Office in May 1917. He served as Commandant of the National Motor Volunteers.
