Sixteen Aircraft donated to Canada, February 1919
Here we see a squadron of sixteen aircraft that were being donated to Canada at Hendon Airfield in February 1919. The aircraft were funded by the Overseas Club and Patriotic League, and the presentation was being carried out by Lord Londonderry, a member of the Air Council. Quite a range of aircraft types were donated, included the Airco D.H.9, RAF S.E.5a, Sopwith 5F.1 Dolphin and Sopwith 7F.1 Snipe. Several D.H. 9s can be seen at the left of the group (nearest to front on left row, two furthest from camera on second row). The second aircraft in the left row is probably a Dolphin, which had a short rounded nose. There appears to be at least one Sopwith Camel towards the right (with the level upper wing).
