Changing guns on HMS Ramillies
Here we see the barrels being replaced in the 15in guns of the upper forward turret on the Revenge class battleship HMS Ramillies, after she fired over 1,000 rounds to support the D-Day landings. It isn't always realised that these masssive gun barrels were essentially a consumable item, needed replacing or at least re-lining after heavy use.
