Gurkha Post near Emanzadeh, Persia, 1918
Here we see a Gurkha post on the road near somewhere called Emanzadeh, in northern Iran. The area was occupied by the British as they attempted to support anti-Soviet forces and secure the oilfields at Baku. Presumably the single figure at the bend in the road is a Gurkha sentry. There are many places called Emanzadeh in Iran, and there are no clues as to which one this is other than it was on the road from Tehran to the Caspian Sea.
