Here we see a Gotha G.IV or Gotha G.V that had to make a forced landing on a gold course close to Rochford airfield, southern Essex, after being shot by anti-aircraft fire over Canvey Island during a raid on 6 December 1917. The crew survived and the aircraft was originally intact, but it was accidently set on fire by a British officer who was inspecting it. Just to the left of the wheel in the centre of the picture we can see one unused bomb.
