Gerusa Duki's recruitment ride, Ethiopia, 1941
Here we see a column of Ethiopian rebels under the leadership of Geresu Duki, one of the most succesful Ethiopian leaders against the Italians. The original wartime caption states it as being a 25 mile ride from Uoliso to Uolohitte. Uoliso is the Italian transcription of Waliso, 60 miles to the south-west of Addis Ababa. Uolohitte I can't trace.

Looks at the first significant British victory of the Second World War, in which a smaller but better organised force defeated the much larger Italian garrison of Ethiopia and Somaliland, eliminating a real threat to the British position in Africa. Good material on the two sides, the flaws in the Italian command and the flexibility of the British offensive. Shows that an inflexible and unimaginative strategy by the Italian command meant they were unable to take advantage of their numerical advantage and were doomed to defeat
