This page from Lt. D.W. Gay's Log Book covers his flying experiences from 25-28 December 1944, after almost two months without a mission.
Operation 7 was an attack on railway engine sheds at Treviso, but the aircraft suffered an engine failure, the bombs had to be dropped at sea and the mission aborted.
Operation 8 was and attack on marshalling yards at Castel-Franco, but once again the sortie had to be abandoned due to engine problems, this time an oil leak in the starboard engine. This was a different aircraft to the previous raid.
Operation 9 was an attack on the marshalling yards at Udine, where he came up against very heavy, accurate flatk and noted that two gunners were wounded in another aircraft (although no aircraft were lost). Result - Orange.
Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material.
