Here we see results of Lt. D.W. Gay's initial training courses. Between 8 November 1943 and 9 January 1944 he undertook training at No.48 Air School. This was based at Woodbridge in East London (South Africa), and carried out courses in basic navigation. He then moved to No.45 Air School at Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, where he continued to train as a navigator and bomb aimer, training on Oxfords and Ansons.
Many thanks to Martin Hampton, the son in law of Lt. Gay, for sending us this material.
