Here we see the first pages of Lt. D.W. Gay's Log Book, showing the instructions for its use, and his qualification as a Navigator and Bomb Aimer, which took effect on 20 May 1944 after he had trained at 45 Air School. This school was based at Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, and there is now a private flying school based on the same airfield!
