Flag from Tomb of Saladin, c. 1919
Here we see a flag that was taken from the tomb of Saladin in Damascus after the Allied conquest of the city in 1918, in the believe that it had been gifted by Kaiser Wilhelm II during his visit in 1898. The flag went to the Canadian War Museum. The flag isn't mentioned in modern accounts of the Kaiser's visit, but may have been part of the wider restoration of the tomb that was taking place at the same time.
