First World War Fire Precautions, St Paul's Cathedral
Here we see some of the air raid and fire precautions taken at St. Paul's Cathedral during the First World War. These precautions were put in place in 1915, and the volunteers were trained by the London Fire Brigade. The Cathedral escaped serious damage during the First World War, suffering two hits from British anti-aircraft shells and one near miss from a German bomb.
