Priority Soldiers queuing for demob at Labour Exchange
Here we see a queue of soldiers with jobs they could immediately return to queuing outside a Labour Exchange to have their papers stamped. This would get them earlier demobilisation than other soldiers, including some who had been serving since early in the war. The original British demobilisation plan caused a great deal of anger in the army and triggered sizable strikes early in 1919.
