Here we see a patient being loaded on a De Havilland DH.86 of the 1st Air Ambulance Unit, RAAF, on Sicily in September 1943. Although it isn't obvious from here, this was a larger four-engined aircraft similar to the later and more familiar DH.89 Dominie.
