The Vistula at Danzig, c.1919
Here we see the Vistula at Danzig, probably c.1919 when the future of the city was being debated by the victorious Allies. The newly independent Poland wanted the city, but it became a Free City under the guarantee of the League of Nations (and later a populist cause for the Nazis).
