Changing the aerial on Poulsen radio, Cologne, c.1919
Here we see a British electrician changing the aerial on a Poulsen wireless set at Cologne, probably in 1919 soon after the station was taken over by the British. The Poulsen set was one of the first radios that could transmit the human voice and was the main method used for long range voice radio during the First World War.
