Canadians leaving Southampton, 1919
Here we see a group of Canadian troops leaving Southampton on the Olympic, in March 1919 on their way back home. The Olympic was the older sister ship of the Titanic and had carried over 200,000 troops during the First World War, as well as sinking U-103. Some of the men are looking at the paravanes, designed to be towed underwater to cut mine cables.
