Sir Maurice de Bunsen, Buenos Aires, 1918
Here we see Sir Maurice de Bunsen (white beard and walking stick) surrounded by a friendly crowd after his arrival at Buenos Aires on 31 May 1918. Sir Maurice was a British diplomat who visited all the South American capitals in 1918 as head of a Special Diplomatic Mission. Argentina stayed neutral, but had large British and German populations, and the crowd was probably largely made up of British ex-pats.
