British Machine Gun Post, Cologne, late 1918
Here we see a British Vickers Machine Gun post in Cologne late in 1918. To the right (with the arm bands) are German armed police recruited by the British from the German Army. This was done in response to violent riots in Cologne, which also forced the British to rush the 18th Hussars to the city, with an advanced detachment arriving on 6 December 1918.
