Here we see an Avro 540 gunnery trainer being serviced by air mechanics of the Women's Royal Air Force. This shows how many parts of this aircraft (and the Avro 504 it was based on) could be removed for servicing - in this case all four wing panels, the engine and the side panels have all been removed. This leaves just the centre section of the upper wing. One of the wing panels can be seen on the ground at the left.
