Grumman TBF-1 Avengers of VGS-29, September 1942
Here we see a flight of five Grumman TBF-1 Avengers of VGS-29 flying over Norfolk, Virginia on 1 September 1942. In the following month the squadron took her Avengers onto the escort carrier USS Santee (CVE-29). In the following year the squadron became VC-29, deploying twice more on the Santee. On 1 December 1943 it became VT-29, and served twice on the USS Cabot (CVE-28).
