Armless Soldier using Fretwork machine
Here we see a one-armed soldier using a special artificial arm designed to allow him to operate a fretwork machine. This picture was taken at Blackrock Hospital, Dublin, which was open from 1917-1931 and specialised in amputations and fitting prosthetics.
