US Graves at Vaux, 1918
Here we see US war graves above the village of Vaux, which fell to a US infantry attack after a heavy artillery bombardment. The village was captured by troops from the 2nd Infantry Divison on 1 July 1918. This was part of follow-up operations after the US victory at nearby Chateau-Thierry at the start of June, where US troops had stopped a German advance.
