USS Wasp (CV-7) burning off Guadalcanal

Here we see the carrier USS Wasp (CV-7) on fire and listing after she was hit by three torpedoes from Japanese submarine I-19 on 15 September 1942 off Guadalcanal (part of a single salvo that also critically damaged the destroyer USS O'Brien and damaged the battleship USS North Carolina. The Wasp was so badly damaged that she had to be scuttled.
