Here we see the view looking forward along the port side Gun Deck of the protected cruiser USS Olympia (C-6), photographed at Boston on 14 October 1899. The picture was taken soon after she had returned to the US after serving as Admiral Dewey's flagship at the battle of Manila Bay of 1898. The breech of one of her guns can be seen in the centre of the picture.
