This map shows the war cruises of the Gleaves class destroyer USS Knight (DD-633/ DMS-40) during and after the Second World War. During the war she escorted convoys to Britain, took part in Operation Torch, and entered the Mediterranean, and she was close to the coast of Portugal on VE Day. She then returned to the US ready to go to the Pacific, but had only reached the Caribbean by VJ Day. She took part in the post-war mine clearing efforts in the Pacific, and was present at at least one of the Bikini Atoll tests.
