This display was produced to commemorate the war cruise of the Gleaves class destroyer USS Knight (DD-633/ DMS-40), and includes a map that shows how wide spread her career was, with trips to Britain, North Africa, into the Mediterranean, and a post war trip to the Pacific. To the left we see the Knight, while to the right we see several scenes from her career.

The standard history of the development of American destroyers, from the earliest torpedo boat destroyers to the post-war fleet, and covering the massive classes of destroyers built for both World Wars. Gives the reader a good understanding of the debates that surrounded each class of destroyer and led to their individual features.
