USS Franklin D Roosevelt (CV-42) from A-6 coming in to land
This view of the Midway class aircraft carrier USS Franklin D Roosevelt (CV-42) was taken from a Grumman A-6A that was about to land on the carrier in August 1969. This view clearly shows the advantage of the angled flight deck - the A-6A has an empty deck to aim at, while the front part of the original flight deck is packed with other aircraft.
