Here we see Mrs Ethel Cowie Robinson christening the Gleaves class destroyer USS Cowie (DD-632) at the Boston Navy Yard on 27 September 1941. Mrs Robinson was the daughter of Rear Admiral Tomas J Cowie, after whom the ship was named.
