Here we see the Northampton class heavy cruiser USS Chester (CA-27) at Mare Island Navy Yard on 16 May 1945, towards the end of a refit that followed her service at Iwo Jima.

Looks at the 'treaty cruisers' built in the US between the wars, limited by treaty to 10,000 tons and 8in guns.
