Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Bell (DD-587) being launched at the Charleston Navy Yard on 24 June 1942.

To the right is her sister ship USS Stevens (DD-479), which was also launched on 24 June. Despite the significant difference in their DD numbers, they were also laid down at the same time, on 30 December 1941, and all of the ships between them in the number sequence were built elsewhere.
