French Troops at opening of UN HQ, North Africa, 17 November 1942
Here we see a formation of Free French troops raising their flag at the formal opening of the United Nations Headquarters in Algiers, North Africa, on 17 November 1942, during Operation Torch. This was the military headquarters of the Allied forces in North Africa and the ceremony was attended by General Mark Clark, Admiral Admiral Cunningham, General Kenneth Anderson and the soon to be assassinated Admiral Darlan.
