U-625 sinking, 10 March 1944
Here we see the crew preparing to evacuate U-625 after she was fatally damaged by a depth charge on 10 March 1944. The submarine briefly submerged, but then came back to the surface, where the survivors abandoned ship. Sadly none of them survived to be rescued, as a storm hit on the following night. The attack was carried out by Sunderland Mk.III EK591 'U' of No.422 Squadron, RCAF
