M3A1 Light Tank on Guadalcanal
Here we see a M3A1 Light Tank (Diesel) of Company C, 1st Marine Tank Battalion, on Guadalcanal in 1942. The two crew are armed with tommy guns, to help protect the tank against infiltrating Japanese troops. This unit took part in the fighting on the Tenaru River. Note the Marine Corps serial number MG301 painted over the original US Army serial.
