Crew of North American B-25C at 7 Mile Drome, Port Moresby

Here we see the crew of North American B-25C 'Der Schpy' sitting in front of their aircraft on 7 Mile Drome, an airfield seven miles from Port Moresby on New Guinea. On the left (looking at the camera) is Captain Ron Hubbard. Behind him is the pilot, 1st Lt Ralph L. Schmidt. The nickname combined his name with 'Spy', probably referencing a First World War cartoon, Schmidt the Spy. Sutting in the middle is P/O Edward Mobsby of the RAAF. On the right is 1st Lt. Bill 'Red' Johnson. The aircraft was written off after a forced landing on 23 November 1942.
