BL 6-inch 26 cwt howitzer at Cologne during riots, c.1918
Here we see a British BL 6-inch 26 cwt howitzer on the banks of the Rhine at Cologne during rioting in the city early in the British occupation of the city after the First World War. A howitzer seems a bit heavy handed to deal with riots, so was presumably in place incase the riots turned into a military uprising
