53rd Battalion Welsh Regiment, Hyde Park, 1919
Here we see men from the 53rd Battalion, Welsh Regiment, entering Hyde Park for a parade in front of King George V on 1 March 1919. They were one of fourteen battalions made up of new recruits who were about to join the British Army of Occupation on the Rhine, to allow more experienced troops to return home. The 53rd was a Young Soldier's battalion, raised to train 18-19 year old troops and served in Britain until 1919.
