600 B-29s attack Osaka-Nagoya

1,500 carrier borne aircraft attack the Kure naval base. Amongst the ships sunk was the Unryu class carrier Amagi.

Technology

First flight of the prototype Gloster Meteor II (DG 207), powered by de Havilland engines. No more aircraft of this type are built.
