Eighth Air Force Heavy Bomber Mission No. 79: 249 aircraft sent against targets in Germany. 91 aircraft hit the Kiel U-boat yard, 54 hit industrial targets at Warnemunde and 48 hit targets of opportunity. Ten aircraft lost.

RAF Bomber Command attacks Hamburg for the third time in a week (night of 29/30 July), causing a second firestorm in the north east of the city

German submarine U-614 sunk with all hands off Cape Finisterre

Italy

Political action inside Italy is forbidden until the end of the war
