A lovely illustrated book containing many excellent colour plates of various Japanese and Korea warships of the period covered, as well as black and white illustrations and museum photographs. This book covers how the samurai fought at sea, a fascinating and virtually ignored subject area. The very distinctive designs of the Japanese ships almost floating fortresses and the famous Korea Turtle boats are covered in beautiful detail. The only trouble is at 48 pages it just wets the appetite for more and is a great resource for the war gamer and model and a very useful addition to any one interested in the Japanese invasion of Korea in the 16th century. This is one of the best ospreys of its type and a must for anyone interested in medieval Japan.
Note Vol 1 covers Chinese warships of the same period.
