This book covers the use of the F-14 Tomcat in Operation Enduring Freedom to conduct long range bombing strikes in Afghanistan, a role and mission far different from the one the F-14 was designed to perform. For this aspect it is interesting especially for fans of the F-14 and shows how a combat aircraft can be adapted when it is fairly redundant in its original role.
The writing style is good and full of comments from the actual pilots but although technically demanding the lack of any real threat from opposing forces does tend to make the mission accounts a bit dull. A well illustrated Osprey with colour plates which cover aircraft markings and photos of the aircraft involved.
