This book was first published by Captain Andrew Foote of the United States Navy in 1854. It covered his time on the Africa Squadron, working to suppress the illegal African slave trade. His account of the slave trade, along with a series of speechs he made, played a part in the rise of abolishonist sentiment in the United States in the years before the Civil War.
